Preparation in the waiting

I don’t know who needs to hear this today… but just because your life doesn’t look like everyone else’s highlight reel doesn’t mean you’re behind.

It just means you’re not on their timeline.

And honestly? That might be a really good thing.

There’s something about scrolling through life—whether it’s social media or just conversations—that can make you feel like you missed a meeting nobody told you about.

People buying houses. Starting businesses. Announcing big opportunities.

Meanwhile, you’re just trying to remember why you walked into the room.

And somewhere in all that, the thought creeps in:

“Man… I’m behind.”

But what if you’re not?

What if what feels like delay… is actually development?

Because here’s something we don’t talk about enough:

God will call you into something… and then send you right back to where you were.

Just ask David

David gets anointed as king. Not someday, not maybe—king. Oil poured on his head. A moment full of promise, purpose, and destiny.

If I’m David, I’m thinking, “Alright, where’s my crown? Where’s my throne? Do I at least get a reserved parking spot at the palace?”

The field wasn’t a delay.

If David had skipped the field, he wouldn’t have been ready for the throne.

Because platforms reveal what preparation builds.

I’ve had seasons where I felt stuck. To tell you the truth I feel like I'm there at the moment.

I feel like I am doing the right things, showing up, trying to grow… and still not seeing the results I thought I should.

And I’ll be honest—I don’t always handle it well.

I’ve compared. I’ve questioned. I’ve wondered if I missed something.

But looking back, I can see it clearly now:

I wasn’t being ignored—I am being prepared.

Maybe that’s where you are right now.

You’ve got the promise… but you’re still in the field. You’ve got the calling… but you’re still in the routine. You know there’s more… but it hasn’t shown up yet.

Can I encourage you? Don’t despise the field.

Because the same place that feels small…is the place where strength is built.

The same season that feels slow…is the season that’s shaping you.

And the same routine that feels ordinary…is where extraordinary character is being formed.

So take a breath.

Keep showing up. Keep being faithful in what feels small. Keep growing—even when nobody notices.

Because one day, you’re going to step into something that looks like it happened overnight…

But you’ll know the truth:

It was built in the field. It was formed in the waiting. It was strengthened when nobody was watching.

You’re not behind.

You’re being prepared.
